Scientists have determined what caused the Liangzhu civilization to collapse around 4,300 years ago.

If you read theories on why certain civilizations vanished, you will find that most of the reasons point in the same direction that is natural calamities. Archaeologists claim that the Maya civilization, as well as the Indus valley civilization both, disappeared due to drought. Even the Aztec civilization is believed to have disappeared due to drought.

I think a lot of such cases can be down to weather and plagues. We did not have advanced methods of dealing with this sort of stuff back then. Even a mild flood in a home can cause mold to grow and it can create a very dangerous area to live in.
