Are dragons mythical creatures or cryptids?

Sometimes there are cases when myths and legends turned out to be true. Could this be true for dragons? Could there actually have been fire-breathing reptiles at one point on Earth?

I just find it hard to believe that dragons are real or were ever real. I think they are 100% fantasy. But, I do think they were inspired by some real-life creatures.

I don't think there was any animal that breathed fire and could fly. However, I believe human beings created the myth of dragons based on animals (or birds) like Pterodactyl, Pteranodon and Quetzalcoatlus from the Jurassic era.
