Researchers at the University of Tokyo have replicated human skin and placed it on an animatronic face, allowing it to better express emotions. The engineered epidermis consists of cultured tissue cells within a layer of collagen, with which the robot can flash a fleshy grin based on its mechanical movements.

Professor Shoji Takeuchi, the lead scientist, has previously developed muscle tissue for robots as well as skin with healing capabilities. His team claims that doctors might one day use these advancements in plastic surgery. Takeuchi's next goal is to add pores, sweat glands, and fat to his creations. https://www.coasttocoastam.com/article/ ... uman-skin/

The more I hear about technology like this, the more I'm convinced that we will have real life terminators running around in society soon. I'm not sure if I should be amazed or terrified...or both!
