Scientists revive 48,500-year-old ‘zombie virus’ buried in ice

Post by alien_head »

French scientists have revived a 48,500-year-old "zombie virus" buried under a frozen lake in Russia. Scientists have long warned that the thawing of permafrost due to atmospheric warming will worsen climate change by freeing previously trapped greenhouse gases like methane.

I know that scientist are trying to revive it so they can study it, but damn...maybe they shouldn't. Maybe some things are meant to be buried away for all of time. Maybe sometimes you just need to ignore things.

Just looking at it from a positive view. Maybe if they study it they will be prepared for when a similar virus comes out and starts spreading. Or maybe this virus will get loose and spread and this will be the end of mankind

These are the things that make it hard for me to sleep at night. When I hear about things like this it just scares the crap out of me because more and more each year it seems like things from science fiction movies(zombie apocalypse) become more possible every day.
