Tesla CEO Elon Musk showcased his much-touted humanoid robot “Optimus” at the electric vehicle maker’s “AI Day” event on Friday.
The billionaire has said a robot business will be worth more than its cars, hoping to expand beyond self-driving vehicles that have not yet become a reality despite his repeated promises.
A prototype of the robot walked on stage and waved to the seated audience. A video of the robot carrying a box, watering plants and moving metal bars in the automaker’s factory was shown.

Although this robot looks amazing, it still doesn't compare to the robots that Boston Dynamics make. Their robots are more fluid in walking and way faster. Boston Dynamics humanoid robots really do look there's a real person inside of them moving around. Tesla robot moves like a robot from the 90s.
Re: Elon Musk unveils humanoid ‘Optimus’ robot at Tesla’s AI Day
Recently, some engineering students in my home country made a robot that could lay football. Tesla's robot does not look great compared to what we can see in the existing market. I hope when they start manufacturing commercially, these machines will become better.

You should checkout some of the newer videos of the Tesla Robot. They are definitely making some improvements.mr_iqman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 03, 2022 8:22 pm Although this robot looks amazing, it still doesn't compare to the robots that Boston Dynamics make. Yeah, from watching this video I can see some major improvements. Makes me want to buy one if I had the money to spare.davemre wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 9:31 pmYou should checkout some of the newer videos of the Tesla Robot. I use to think that something like the "The Terminator" could never happen. But, with the US election results and Elon Musk injecting himself into the political scene..... maybe it is possible?
Re: Elon Musk unveils humanoid ‘Optimus’ robot at Tesla’s AI Day
These robots are controlled by people. So it is impressive but they have not figured out how to make them function on their own. The dog robots do to some degree but it is still all very basic. I think we are still a ways a away from iRobot types of machine robotics.
